I have always lived in London and taken a great interest in its history and ongoing development. This extended into the history of its transport services, about which I have written a number of books – I have spent most of my working life working in the industry and observing changes from within, mostly to the good, but not always so. I continue to write, and have a website with half finished stuff in it so that it is at least available, if not complete. Several new books are in hand. I have many ‘works in progress’ and some of these can be found on my website; the web address is http://www.metadyne.co.uk
I read with interest about the markings on the granite kerbstones in London in one of your articles – as recent visitors who walked the streets for 7 weeks, we were always on the lookout for the kerb markings once we spotted them and NO ONE could give us an answer as to their meanings! It looks like you are on the same quest!! We’d love to know when you find out – are they a code – secret or otherwise? Intriguing! We are an Australian family travelling for a year and homeschooling our 3 children. We are always eager for titbits of information to add to their en route learning! Cheers for now, Helen (hjrkeesman.blogspot.com)
